HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

IT'S FINALLY HERE! And I've got that sneak peak I was talking about too! Of course I'll put that in somewhere else~ But remember that the link will only work for a certain amount of time. After a week, it will no longer be available to anyone aside from me. So if you want to get a little taste of Forever the sequel to Found, feel free to take a look at the snippet! Now anniversary is all about celebrating, so let's see what our characters are up to today?

Me: So No Regrets, what are you doing for this anniversary?
Duncan: Band practice.
Marina: Hey don't say that! We're gonna hang out at Sticky Mickey's too! They came out with another version of our favorite game...
Lizzie: Yeah Duncan, don't be so serious just because we're being asked questions!
Marina: Yeah, Duncan!
Duncan: Jeez, no need to attack me you two. You know I don't like... being put on the spot.
Marina: Sounds like you're a bigger baby than I am.
Duncan: Doubt it-- hey! Don't hit me!
Marina: *Sticks out her tongue at Duncan*
Lizzie: *Laughs delightedly at the other two*
Me: You three seem to be close as ever! Would you mind telling everyone a little bit about the sequel? What happens?
Lizzie: Oh a whole lot! We go through a lot of things that really test our friendship. A lot of it makes me want to cry.
Marina: Mhmm... It's a lot different from Found but it's even better because of that! High school is crazy in Arrows-- I hope it's not too dramatic!
Duncan: Everything turns upside down and then back around. But I'm sure that people will be happy with the end...
Me: Hey! Don't say that Duncan! You know I haven't even written that far yet.
Duncan: But you've got it all in your head, don't you?
Marina: Yeah, Marley you've totally got this! Make our story come to life just like last time~
Lizzie: We're counting on you, just like always.
Me: *Takes a moment to compose self* Thank you, you three. You really help me get into the mood of writing! Now, what about music? How's the band doing?
Lizzie: I think we're doing great! During school we don't have much time to write or compose, but we try our hardest.
Marina: We're still doing covers and performing and it's literally so much fun! I can't believe I even had stage fright before.
Duncan: Well, you've changed a lot since then Rina.
Marina: That's true. I'm glad!
Duncan: I've been working on learning more instruments actually, so maybe if we upload covers they can have a fuller sound. Right now, I'm learning to play something people where you live would be very familiar with.
Me: Oh yeah? Is it the ukulele?
Duncan: Yeah.
Lizzie: We've all been trying to learn because it's so much fun! It's like having a tiny guitar so I'm getting the hang pretty quickly.
Me: Well, it was really nice talking to you three. I'm sure that the fans will enjoy this too!
Marina: I hope so! I'd really love to do more things like this.
Lizzie: So would I! Like a No Regrets special talk show, right?
Duncan: I think we're getting ahead of ourselves... But I suppose it would be pretty great if you could post more about us.
Me: Um-- yeah, that'd be great. Hah! I'll try my hardest, okay? Now why don't you all say goodbye and a few words of thanks?
Lizzie: Thank you so much for all the support! It makes everyone really happy.
Marina: Yeah, not just us three either! There's Davie and Tia and Laynie and--
Duncan: Rina don't give away other characters...
Marina: OH! Right, sorry! Thanks for all the lovely support everyone!
Duncan: Thanks so much. I hope you keep on supporting us.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!!

Almost there!

I know that I said I'd be posting highlights from ALL the chapters, but that won't be happening after all. Sorry, but my favorite parts are literally spoilers for the remaining chapters. Even if it isn't a huge spoiler, it's one I'd rather people found (See what I did there? No? Good, it's pretty lame.) out on their own! Of course, I will be bringing you all something special that has to do with the sequel to Found!

I usually always, always get asked about the sequel and how I'm doing with it. No really, it's something someone always asks me if they know about my first book. This will always be the universal answer, "It's going well! Even if it's coming along slowly." Yes, the sequel is indeed in the works, but it'll still be a while until it's published or even close to getting there. I think I'm only 40 or so pages into it, yet the climax of the plot seems so far away!

However, I'm very excited to be showing you a sneak preview! It'll only be available for a limited amount of time, so I hope you all get a chance to read it. What do you hope to see in the sequel? What characters do you want back? Do you hope to see some new characters? Feel free to comment and ask questions on any of the social media for the book, because I'd love to hear what you have to say!

Highlights of Chapter 6!

They can’t don’t know what it feels like how I feel.

Of course I had to choose this for the highlight!!! (But I sure was tempted to choose something else, that's for sure.) This was probably MY first song as much as it was Lizzie's. This song is titled "Duncan's Song" for obvious and sweet reasons. A song about how much she values his friendship and how, no matter what, they can get through the day. She can get through the day just by seeing his happy, smiling face. I think we all have that one friend that we cherish in our lives that can make us feel better with a smile and some conversation. For Lizzie, that person is Duncan.

Highlights of Chapter 5!

A light bulb went on before he could take the picture and I reached into my bag. I pulled out the wires and held them up. “It wouldn’t be the same, oui?” I said, smiling and placing them on me so I looked like I still had them on. As much as I hated them, it was all because of them that I made such amazing friends. Without them, I don’t know what will happen, but I’m not expecting much. I just wanted things to stay the same, and I wanted to keep performing with Duncan and Marina. But something in me also wanted things to be different. I just wanted people to stop teasing me and I wanted to be looked at and not be pitied off the bat. I’ll be able to be more of myself; something I’ve wanted for so long. It was time to be happier and to smile more. With my friends and my music, my life will change in the best ways possible. I was sure of it!

AND THEN EVERYTHING CHANGED. But was it for better or for worse?? Well, if you read the book, then you'd know! Now that Lizzie's wires come off, so much opens up for her in her life and at first she fails to realize this at first. This was just one of those moments where something so simple as getting some metal headgear removed, changes the entire story. Maybe that sounds a little too dramatic.. hah! Oh well~

Highlights of Chapter 4!

“Mmm, you still got it in ya, Frankie.” The woman said, who I presumed to be Mrs. Tidmen. “I’ll never get tired of dancing with you.”

“Neither will I, darling.” He said back to her. She rested her head on his shoulder and he leaned his head on hers. “Will you stay forever?”

“Oh dear,” she breathed, moving her head back to look at him. “The big man up there may not allow it.” She smiled at him softly, trying to make light of the topic I wished I didn’t understand. It would have hurt a lot less that way.

He looked at her with droopy eyes that silently pleaded for a serious answer. But he knew that it would hurt more that way. “Oh, he must be missing an angel.”

“Such a charmer.” She said, placing her hand gently on his cheek. 

His eyes were still sad, but he pulled her close and kissed her on the forehead. It was a kiss I had only seen mama and papa do before, and I suddenly felt like crying. A kiss so deep and pleading and sad could mean a few things. But by how they were talking, it sounded like Mrs. Tidmen didn’t have much time left to live. Without even realizing it, I was crying and choking on my sobs while trying to hold them back. 

“I love you, Doris.”

“I love you too, Frankie… I love you too.”

It was actually pretty difficult to choose a favorite part in Chapter 4, but I ended up choosing this one. Mr. and Mrs. Tidmen make me so very happy yet so very, VERY sad. I don't think I have to explain as to why. They're one of the older couples in Found that truly show this pure and loving relationship to Lizzie and reminds her of her parents.

The next highlights may come a bit quicker and closer together, because WE'RE GETTING CLOSE TO THE ANNIVERSARY! Can you tell that I'm stoked? Well, thank you again for liking, commenting, and sharing! Your support means the world to me and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Highlights of Chapter 3!

“Duncan!” Marina shouted, skipping over to him happily. “Look, Lizzie braided my hair! Isn’t it pretty?”

I followed behind her and met Duncan’s eyes before he looked up at Marina and nodded. “Yeah, it looks great. Did you say thank you?” His gaze went back to me and he grinned a little.

“Oh!” Turning to me, Marina smiled brightly, her brown eyes looking a lot less puffy than before. “Thank you, Lizzie. For a lot…” She made sure to soften her voice for the second part and I shook my head.

“You’re welcome. Any time!” I smiled back at her before nodding my head to Duncan. “Maybe I can braid Duncan’s hair sometime.”

Before turning around, I saw the same giddy expression from before and she giggled the same way. “You know, I think Duncan would love that.”

I looked at Duncan, his cheeks turning pink. I don’t know what my face looked like, but when he looked at me, he quickly stood up and ran his fingers through his hair. “Oh, shut up…” He mumbled. I couldn’t help but laugh along with Marina as the bell rang and we got into line.

OH MY HEART. Sorry, I couldn't hold that in. These three are just so special to me and although chapter three is pretty short, it's lovely. It's the first time you really get to see these three interact with each other and I think it's a lovely start. From here, Marina pops up a lot more in the story since she gets closer to Lizzie. Unless you've read the book, you don't see what happens to them in the chapter before this snippet, but it makes my heart happy.

Highlight of Chapter 2!

When I first listened to it, I had recently gotten my braces and headgear. All the kids were teasing me in school and I was hiding in the bathroom. I wanted to cry and just disappear but I couldn't. All I could do was hide alone and wish for the metal on my face and teeth to be gone. I felt like quitting and calling home when I faintly heard the lyrics.
The lyrics lightened my heart a bit and I continued to listen. As the song went on, I stepped out of the stall and over to the sinks. The music was louder now and my heart seemed to get even lighter. Even though I didn't like my reflection, I started to smile. For the first time after getting my braces, I genuinely smiled at my reflection.
Ah yes, my highlight from chapter two, of Found! This part is probably one of my favorites because this is when Lizzie really started to fall in love with music. Music had saved her and I feel like it's shown here for the first time. It showed how she herself was going through this tough change in her life, and the song she heard made her feel better. I'd like to think that other people were saved by music at some point in their life, too.
Now what about you? What part in chapter two was your favorite? Now, I have another favorite part that I love for different reasons. But if I said that one, it'd be a huge spoiler! Lizzie's 30 Day Character Development: Days 1 & 2

As I promised, here are the first two days for Lizzie's 30 Day Character Development! Or rather Lizzie's 30DCD for short. I'll be using that in the title from now on as well. I've already given the link to the original but here it is again if you'd like to see the days ahead of time. Day 2:
How do they usually dress? What do they wear to sleep? Do they wear jewelry?
Lizzie loves to wear sweaters or even flannel jackets with the sleeves rolled up. Although she doesn't mind wearing skirts or dresses, she would prefer skinny jeans or shorts. While she does like v necks, she also really loves flowy blouses and crop tops.
For sleepwear, she likes using oversized sweaters or t-shirts that belonged to her father.
Aside from wearing studded earrings, she also likes to wear a few bracelets on her left wrist and also a silver locket with a picture of her parents in it that she got from Juni.
Is there anything about their appearance they wish they could change?
The only time Lizzie ever wanted to change something was when she had her wires and her braces. But if she did have to choose a few things now it would probably to have her collarbones and hip bones show less. Although she is a healthy weight for her size, she does wish to be a little more curvy since she feels like she's a bit lanky.
How would they look as the opposite sex?
I picture male Lizzie as kinda dorky looking actually. Just a bit taller than her around 5'8" and still lanky but with a good amount of muscle mass. He would likely look very hipster esque but wear fake nerd glasses.
What do they smell like? Why (do they wear the scent or does it occur naturally)?
Lizzie usually smells like vanilla or roses. Because roses grow in their yard, Juni would bring in freshly cut roses and just put them all over the house. So being around so many sweet smelling roses, she usually would end up smelling like them. Vanilla is because she just really likes the sweet but subtle smell of it!
Do they have an accurate mental picture of their appearance (how they see themselves versus how the world sees them)?
Lizzie likes to see herself as a dedicated person who likes to help others especially if they're her friends. Most people tend to see Lizzie as popular in the sequel but she herself doesn't feel that she is or the desire to be. I won't say more because more will be revealed in the sequel!

Apology! & Book Reading?

Hi there everyone! How are you all? I'm so so so sorry for not posting for over a month here. I had become very busy and had not find any time to post. Other than that I really had no idea what to post. I know I said I'd post the Character Development for Lizzie but really bad writers block hit me and I wasn't able to get past doing the first day.

You'll be happy to know that I actually have started working on it again and I'm a few days in! So I'll be posting the first day in a couple of days or so. So sorry again for lagging on that because I was really excited to post them. Any who, back to the second part of the title!

I have recently gone to the Hanapepe Library and told them that I had written I book. They will be given a copy (signed, even~) to be available to borrow at the library. Also, I'll have to schedule a book reading with them! I'll be able to use the annex and I'm really excited about having my first book reading. But that's where I need a bit of your help.

If and when I do have my reading, I was wondering what specifically people would want me to do. I'd of course sign books and answer a few questions with a short Q & A session. Other than that, I was thinking of reading parts of the book but I would need to know what I should read. My problem is that I wouldn't want to read a part of the book that reveals spoilers to people that haven't read it or reached that part yet.

So, dear reader, I would greatly appreciate and love that you comment below what you'd like to hear me read. Here's an example of how to comment: Please read pages 9 - 10 starting from "With a shaking fist," and ending with "I decided it was both."

Just keep in mind that I'll choose the ones I think would be okay to read and also ones that aren't very long. But really your input would be so great to have since the book reading itself is really for fans of the book! I'm excited to do this not only for myself but for all of you out there, so I hope once I decide the date that you can make it out!

Character Development!

So as mentioned in the little description at the top, there should be some character development going on on this blog! For a while I've known about the Character Development Meme on Tumblr and it's a really great way to get into all the details you'd like about one of your characters. It's one of the greatest things ever, so if you have a character you'd like to develop more, check that out HERE.

I will be following this meme but instead of posting every day, it'll be every week or so. Each character I do this meme for will have their own page where I will update their information according to said meme. The first character I will be doing this for will be Miss Lizzie Allore the main character of Found! Whenever there is an update on her page, I will post a little announcement and also links to the page.

So I hope you all will enjoy learning a little more about the lovely people in Arrows! I apologize if updates are slow, but they will come. Some information may also be held off if they contain spoilers I'd rather not reveal yet. Aside from that, I'll focus on giving you as much as I can! The Town of Arrows

Hello there lovely readers!

Today I will start with talking about the little town where it all happens! Arrows was a town that I always had since I was younger. It was always small and there was never an exact location in America to put it. I've always left that up to the reader! When I was younger, there were things like a diner, a large barn and less high-end housing. I believe that the town may have evolved through the years like many towns do! The large barn is no more, and at the top of the town, there are many amazing houses. The diner may still be there, though!

As mentioned in Found, Lizzie says the town has a quaint, vintage feel to it. This is all very true! The sidewalks are nicely paved and lined with small trees and some flower beds. Buildings are mostly made of old stone, or wood that have been there for years. Some of the buildings are newer, so there are some modern ones, but the old style architecture still shines through. Near the end of the road in town, there is a food court area. Around this area are various restaurants which surround the courtyard where people go to eat. The shops that line the street are other things like The Riff, Light Putt, and Pretenders (the costume store where Lizzie, Tia, and Jess go). At the other end of town, there are places like the skate park which is in the actual park, the ice rink, the pool, the care home, and the school areas.

Aside from the school Lizzie, Duncan, and Marina attend, there are two other public schools. But I'll get into that later. Where Lizzie lives is close to the school but in the cottage-like houses. These homes have more of a rustic and natural feel to them. Where Duncan lives is also close to the school but in the opposite direction of Lizzie's home. Duncan lives in the nice homes that come before the huge mansions like where Tia lives. Marina lives in the middle/lower class housing in one of the older houses. Those houses are just as good as the ones Lizzie lives in; just more affordable for Marina's family.

A New Chapter

No, not in the book, but in life! As of last week Friday, May 23rd, I am no longer a high school student. The bittersweet feeling will surely stick around for a while.

In updates to what else that's been happening, I just spoke at a Career Fair at Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School! I was assigned a classroom to speak at for 45 minutes for three sessions. I was so nervous at first but after the first session, I began to get the hang of things. The students were really cooperative and a lot of them liked to write! As an activity, I had them work together and we created a character which they then had to write a short story about. Even with the short timeframe, what I got back was really amazing.

I really hope that these kids continue with writing because I'm sure it'll take many of them far in life. Even after the short time spent with them, I feel they were generally good kids who liked to write and come up with stories and plots and characters. Its nice to see that a love for writing is still alive and well! I hope that maybe I'll be able to go back next year to speak again! I would love that opportunity to see more kids who enjoy writing and to show them that anything is possible no matter how old you are.

Songs!

Hello again! Its been over a week since my last post, but today I have wonderful news indeed! A few nights ago my friend Janica and I went to a recording studio (thanks to Mike Odo) to better record the three songs in Found (buy it HERE) with great results! Although it took several hours, we managed to get them all recorded before one o'clock AM. I have uploaded them onto my SoundCloud account. You can find the link in the back of the book!

The first song is titled Duncan's Song. Its the first song in the story which Lizzie does not perform, but she does write in her composition book.

The second song is the trio's Christmas song titles Perfect Christmas, which they do sing in the story. Although we were not able to get piano in it, it still sounds great!

The third song is a song Janica and I collaborated on. Its kind of like my gift to you for reading the book all the way through. If you enjoyed the book, this song may give you a few "feels" as I'd like to say it. There are no lyrics for this written in the book, but Lizzie mentions it. Once you listen to it, I'm sure it'll be obvious as to what song it is. (It's seriously one of my favorites. Check it out!) On this track there are some harmonics played by Mike's friend Kasey.

So I hope you will check out these songs! We worked very hard on them so it'd be so great to have people listen to them and connect them to the moments in the book. Also, in no way do my friend and I resemble Lizzie's voice or Marina's voice perfectly. We have our moments but those girls take the cake. But! That doesn't take away from how proud I am about these recordings and these songs. Let me know how you like them!

More News After a Long Break

Hi there dear readers I hope you've been well. It's been a while since my last Wednesday post and I apologize for that. And now it's Thursday, so I'm even more sorry. But I come bearing great news! As of Tuesday, I received my 20 free copies to distribute as I see fit. I may give a few away to family and maybe friends, but I'll be focusing on the libraries first.

Am I excited, you ask? Why I'm absolutely ecstatic! When I got my authors proof on April 8th, I finally got to see the final product of my hard work. It was my book and it completely thrilled me. Everyone who happens to find out- whether I tell them or someone else does -is very proud of me and I love that. From what I've been told by people, I'll be getting an overwhelming amount of support from my peers as well as my teachers. The head of the English Dept. at the school has even asked me to do a book reading and of course I said I would. Hopefully I'll do my writing justice by reading it! I still need to pick out what parts to read, but that's news to save for another day.

Now that the book is out there I'll be posting a lot more on here! There are only 25 days left until graduation, so I'll have a lot more time after then to post. So hopefully when people start to read the book, they'll take some time to visit the blog! There will be polls up every month or maybe every week. Considering how many people actually visit and vote. But anyway, I hope that you check out my book and I'll be posting more news next week!

Books News?

Hello dear readers how are you all doing? I hope you are awaiting the release of Found! I know that I am. It's hard since the publishing company is all the way in the East coast. Living on an island in the middle of the ocean can be a bit hindering with time. I'll be emailing my mentor today to see if there are any updates with my book. Hopefully I'll be able to get my rough copy of the actual book and then give them the okay to make a few more copies for me.

Waiting can be a pain, can't it? I also made things a bit difficult for them with the amount of fonts I used in the book. It never occurred to me that they wouldn't have access to the fonts I used. A+ writing skills! The fonts were the only reasons editing the manuscript took so long. So if you're reading this and waiting for the book, I'm very sorry! Once I hear back from my mentor I will make sure to give you all an update! I'll also be posting reviews that a few students at my school did as well as my mentor's and my English teacher's.

The First Official One

Hello there dear reader! Hope your day was lovely.
Here I am, sitting on my bed, drinking some crystal light, and writing my first official blog post! Am I blogging yet? I'm not all too sure! Right now, I'm taking it slow and trying not to mess up anything. I've never made an actual blog before. (As I don't think reblogging things on Tumblr counts as official blogging.) So all of this right here may prove to be a lot of work for me.
Still, I'm determined to post often for fans of Found. Hopefully there will be people who want to learn more about the characters as well as hear about book updates. I'm going to try and make this blog as helpful as possible as painless as I can.
